Nordic Architects and Architecture/Language Practice (National Building Museum)

Details

Come join Nordic Language Meetup at the National Building Museum to learn about architects from the Nordic countries and some of the hallmark (as well as creative) features of Nordic architectural design. We’ll learn about Eero Saarinen and Alvar Aalto from Finland, Henning Larsen and Jørn Utzon from Denmark, Jan Inge Hovig and Kjetil Trædal Thorsen (Snohetta) of Norway, Ragnar Östberg from Sweden, and Guðjón Samúelsson of Iceland. Then we will practice speaking in our preferred Nordic languages.

We will meet in the Great Hall at the tables to the right. Look for tabletop Nordic flags. We will provide refreshments. Admission to the National Building Museum’s Great Hall and museum gift shop is entirely free, but you can view the exhibit halls- with $10 tickets ($7 students and 60+) sold at the ticket desk- before or after our Meetup if you like.
