About Camp Shady;
Beneath the sheltering canopy of her stately pines, from which she derived her name courtesy of a young camper many years ago, Camp Shady Pines has matured into a picturesque reservation. Her origins were as unassuming and remote as a small seedling struggling to find sustenance in desiccated earth. Yet, much like the pine trees that surround her, her roots started to gain traction, fortified by the aspirations and unwavering commitment of the many individuals who believed in her from the inception and worked assiduously to support her. With each new development, she becomes increasingly resilient, her annual growth imbuing her solid roots with renewed vitality. The joyful sounds of children serve as her rejuvenation, much like the refreshing impact of raindrops on the pine grove. Just as the pines stretch forth their branches towards the sun, Camp Shady Pines opens her arms to enfold the numerous friends who have contributed to her growth across the years.
Bring water, lunch & snacks. The kids can eat and play at the playground after our hike. Hike will be approximately 1 mile. There are inclines and declines as well as a fresh water stream that kids wade in during the summer months. Be prepared for wet discoveries along with wet feet. Beautiful place.
