Mount Hood via Pythian road, epic views (strenuous 8 miles hike)

This is one of my favorite hikes in Sonoma county and the first place I take anyone who is in from out of town and is somewhat fit.

This trail is 4 miles each way and goes though a few different ecosystems including the old orchards of the first family to homestead on the mountain. The views of the Sonoma valley from the top are spectacular, you can see San Francisco on most clear days.

There is just over 2,000 feet of elevation gain, this hike is not extremely hard but please be accustomed to walking this type of distances.

We will break for lunch at the famous "gunsight" rocks just below the summit of the mountain as that area has the best views.

Please bring water and snacks for yourself and wear comfortable hiking shoes.
