Abstract: Large-scale e-commerce platforms are built by multiple teams who contribute to a common ecosystem. While most modern architectures such as microservices are distributed and decoupled, they are still largely driven by technical concerns often built in technical “layers”, which causes problems such as delivery blockers, lack of ownership, low adaptability and waterfall development. This can be overcome with a modular architecture where digital products are logically driven, implemented in “verticals” and independently deployable to the customer at any time.

Bio: Alex is a software architect and agile leader with more than 18 years of professional and leadership experience in different roles, industries and technologies. Equipped with an agile mindset and hands-on mentality, he always tries to stay ahead of the game. He strongly believes in agile principles, DevOps, team autonomy, product ownership and lateral leadership. Alex is currently a Principal Architect at TUI Group, a world-leading tourism operator, where he works on the transformation of the e-commerce platform.
