Barbecuing Hamlet
Written by Pat Cook
Barbecuing Hamlet is a comedic play that centers around a small-town community theater group attempting to stage Shakespeare's Hamlet. Chaos ensues when the group hires a director from NY who tries to modernize the classic with wild changes…including a community theater set in an old funeral home. The quirky cast, full of eccentric local actors, struggles with the language, staging, and each other. As rehearsals spiral out of control, personal dramas and misunderstandings threaten to derail the production. Ultimately, the play is a hilarious look at artistic ambition clashing with small-town charm.
