ANF Chapter - July Guided Hike - Canopy Tree ID - Chappel Bay RT 321 Trailhead

Join us for a summer hike along Chappel Run and Hemlock Run. As we hike, we’ll learn how to quickly identify common canopy trees of the ANF.
Our meeting time is 10 AM, Saturday, July 19 at the Rt 321 Chappel Bay Trailhead. The Rt 321 Chappel Bay trailhead is located about 4.3 miles south of RT 59 and about 6 miles north of the Forest Service Red Bridge Campground. GPS coordinates are N 41° 48.684’ W 078° 52.295’. We will do an out and back hike north on the NCT. It is about 5.0 miles to go to the Chappel Bay Campsite and back, 9.4 miles to go to Hemlock Run Campsite and return or 13.2 miles to go to Rt 59 and back. The length of the hike can be adjusted based on the desires of the participants for distance and interest in identifying trees.
Please come prepared for the hike dressed in appropriate layers for the weather, and carrying your own food and water. Friendly dogs, on leashes, are welcome. We hope to see you on the trail.
