C++ provides a wonderful ability to write highly expressive types. Learning to recognize when and how to use this ability leads to APIs that are easier to use, better-performing code, and better separation of concerns. This talk is a case study of an API which went from being weakly-typed to being strongly-typed, the recognition that underpinned the rewrite, and the process of rewriting the code.
