North Dublin Motorcycle Meetup

If you enjoy easy paced motorbike spins on mostly scenic b-roads on a dry Sunday morning or the occasional weekend away spin, then this group could be for you. We are generally down to earth and easy-going. New members are welcome, particularly if you have a good sense of humour!

Why this group?
This group generally caters for bikers who live near or on the north side of Dublin. Most of our ride outs focus on north Co. Dublin and north/west surrounding counties, although we do sometimes venture south. The emphasis is to explore the most scenic b-roads and sometimes green lanes, as part of the mix, avoiding motorways and busy roads, where possible. We endeavour to arrange ride outs one or two Sundays per month, for a few hours when the weather is reasonably dry. We generally keep to speed limits and are not speed merchants. We also have a few weekends or longer trips away during the year to locations in the UK and Ireland primarily.

Why the nominal annual membership fee?
We want to keep the rif raf out🙂. No seriously, there are a number of free motorcycle groups out there on WhatsApp, Facebook etc, but in my opinion are very different in a number of ways from this group, including driving way too fast for my liking, not exploring the B roads and green lanes that I like, and some groups just not my cup of tea.. I also believe that the value of joining this group is well worth the nominal annual fee and members are more likely to engage and feel part of it if they have even a small bit of skin in the game. I mean besides.

Prior to it, we had almost 300 members online, most of whom we never met! I’m quite sure some of them didn’t even have motorbikes, and were mere keyboard warriors or fantasy bikers.

Of course, if you do not feel that the nominal annual membership fee of just €25 is not worth joining this group or is not good value for the experiences, camaraderie, and routes that we take, you are of course welcome join another group. I would prefer to have a dozen regular engaged members than 300 ghost riders online. ****However, if you would prefer to make a small donation to help with the overhead of running this group, you can do so as an alternative to paying the membership fee, in which case I will waive the fee after you join. ****Note there is a grace period of about three months before new members are required to pay the fee after they join.

Nobody values anything that they get for free.
As organiser, meet up app charges me €200 per year to use the app for the group which I pay out of my own pocket. I also paid for the development and design of the website ndmm.net which also incurs a regular maintenance and hosting fee to keep that running, which I also pay myself. On that note, I plan to add a shop with ndmm.net logo branded merchandise in 2026 on the website. I also give my time for free to this group which includes planning routes and checking out locations, et cetera in advance.

NB: If you wish to partake of the spins and ride outs from any of the events posted, then you should register with this group app and RSVP for that event, rather than just showing up as a non-member. However, paid members can of course invite a friend for free on a spin with us to see if they like the group enough to join it the next time.

Get more involved
I welcome ideas for route plans and new destinations. Any member who wants to plan and lead a ride out is welcome, just let me know the date in advance. If you would like to be an organiser and get more actively involved, on a regular basis, let me know, as there’s room for one or two more. Longer spin routes are shared on Whatsapp, Google maps, or Mobile/ TXT etc, so no one usually gets lost. It’s our policy to not leave anybody behind or stranded.

Terms of membership:
You are solely responsible for your own safety, not the group nor the organisers. You must have legal insurance, ride a roadworthy bike and drive sensibly. This group is a voluntary group of private individuals who ride motorcycles as a hobby for recreational purposes. It is not a registered business or charity. ** please do not attend group ride outs with this group if you are not a member or you are not registered as a guest on any given event.
