Summer walks and hikes are starting earlier to beat the heat and the crowds. At this time of year, remember sun screen, water for yourself and dogs, as well, bug spray is a good idea. Never plan to leave your dog in the car while you run errands before/after or stop for lunch.
Seattle's Discovery Park Loop Trail is a designated National Recreation Trail, 2.8 miles long with an elevation change of just 140 feet. It passes through both forest and open meadows, offers extensive views, good prospects for bird watchers, and it can be hiked or jogged year-round.
Areas of the trail can be muddy, and slick if it has been wet. wear a good trail shoe.
