Supper Bowl Hike - Mt Walker, Quilcene, WA
Details
I used to do this annually on Super Bowl Sunday because my dogs were more interest in Supper than Football and the ferries are really quiet. i have not done this since Covid so ready to get back to it.
For those wanting a more back country, alpine experience. Please come prepared to sweat. We will be starting early as most of these trails are quite popular.
Always check this site for updates before leaving . Bad weather, dangerous trail conditions will cancel this hike.
Come prepared with water and snacks (lunch for the longer ones) for you and your dog, proper hiking footwear, hiking pole(s) advised, For the winter hikes, come prepared with traction devices for your feet (eg.yak trax) because trails can be snowy and icy as you gain altitude.
Attendance will be limited, so please honor your RSVP or update it as early as you can so somebody else can attend.
There are two ways to get to the top of Mount Walker. You can either hike, as shown on this page or drive to the top (road is closed in winter so can hike down and make a loop - but this adds some miles). This hike is short, yet steep, and takes you to the north and south viewpoints. It then returns down the same trail. From the top, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including those of Olympic National Park, as well as the looking across the water towards Seattle and other cities.
MILEAGE: 5-6 mile RT (depends if we take road down - adds mileage)
Elevation Gain: 2135 ft
Passes/Permit required: NW Forest Pass
Dogs allowed on leash/scoop the poop

Meet at Edmonds Walgreen Parking lot and we can caravan or carpool for those wanting to, to the ferry. time will be updated nearer to the event, but around 8 ish, to get hiking by ten.
