North Jersey Bowling, Volleyball, Tennis And More (BVT)

Come join the group for a St. Patty's Day Bar Crawl in Hoboken.

We'll be starting at The Shepherd & the Knucklehead of Hoboken, 1313 Willow Ave., at 6:30 p.m. and then walking around from there.

It's totally optional to wear your favorite St. Patrick's Day attire and/or consume a few adult beverages. Feel free to just come and have a good time hanging with familiar faces and meeting new ones.

Please be smart about travel. The train station is not far away and runs late. Parking can be a challenge, but there is street parking (where residential permit is not required, and several paid public parking garages, including at 112 River St. and 1330 Willow Ave. Feel free to comment below if interested in carpooling.

This event follows our Halloween and Holiday bar crawls, a trend spurred by Ray and Raymond, two regular attendees of our events.

We're a group of people who will start by hitting the ball around for the first 20-30 minutes and then will break up into 2-4 teams for two or three hours of play.

If we have more than 20 people show up, we'll break up into three or four teams of 6 (Some may have 7, 8 or 9. Additional players just rotate into play). Games will be to 10 points. Rally scoring. Winner stays on (unless a team has won four straight).

We'll be heading outdoors to the hard court in Leonia off Overpeck County Pk Driveway in the Overpeck County Park.

*** After playing, we'll be likely heading to Tropical Juice Bar, an idea of regular attendee Kate, for a drink and snack. It's located at 60 River St. in Hackensack. Feel free to join us or suggest another spot for a post-volleyball hangout. ***

There's no fee to play volleyball and nothing else you need to do besides show up. Come anytime!! All are welcome!!! We're not in a league and are not here to analyze your form. We're more for people who haven't played in months, maybe years, and just want to occasionally play again and hang out.

Directions: You can Google "Volleyball Court in Leonia" and it should come up. Or type 41 Willow Tree Road, Leonia, NJ 07605 into your GPS, but note that it's not on Willow Tree Road, just near it. Instead, turn onto Overpeck County Pk Driveway off Fort Lee Road (Degraw Avenue). It is past the tennis courts and near a basketball court and track. You can try Googling Leonia High School as well. That should help you find it.

We don't have the court reserved and if it happens to be taken, we may play with those already occupying it or we will try to relocate on the fly. It's certainly possible that we may have to cancel that day if we can't find a suitable spot. Please keep that in mind. And if it's looking like it'll rain or snow, I'll make a call on whether to cancel around an hour ahead of time.

Please bring a ball and net if you have them for possible use during the game. Feel free to bring a speaker for music, or snacks and drinks for consumption during play.

This is an event for casual bowling at Montvale Lanes, 14 W. Grand Ave. All are welcome for two games, food and drinks, and any post- or pre-game hang out. Show up anytime! Questions or comments? You can message Andy Milone on Meetup, or call/text him at 201-234-9609.

*** Before bowling, we might stop by the Pizza Parlour, 6 S. Kinderkamack Road in Montvale, for a few slices at 6:15 p.m. First, post a comment on the event page to gauge interest. After bowling, we'll definitely be heading to Davey's Irish Pub & Restaurant, 5 Park St. in Montvale, or The Ridge Diner, 125 Kinderkamack Road in Park Ridge, at 10 p.m. for some food and/or drinks up until midnight.***

About the group: We're not professionals and we're not in a league. In fact, we're a group of people who probably each won't score more than 100 points and will land more than our fair share of gutter balls. There's no pressure at all!!!! We're not here to analyze your form or technique.

More event details: You pay for your own games, food and drinks. Please bring cash. The alley does not accept card. But there is an ATM on site. The cost per player is $18 for two games and bowling shoes. If you have your own shoes, the cost is $12. Please try to bring exact change since Andy will have a limited amount of cash. If you bring a $20 bill and Andy doesn't have change, any remainder would just go toward the bowling alley tip.

Food and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are available on site, plus tables and an alley bar to hang at during the event. There is a dart board and a few arcade games, as well.

What do you do when you get there? First, find the group inside around the front desk. Look for a growing group of people! Call or text Andy Milone at 201-234-9609 if you can't find us. Pay Andy before getting bowling shoes. *NEW* He'll give you a name tag or wrist band. *NEW*

Please know that it is possible we have to wait 20-40 minutes until lane(s) free up. (He is thinking about changes to possibly address this too). It's certainly possible that we may have to relocate or cancel that night if there's a long wait list upon arrival. Please keep that in mind if traveling from far away!

For those who don't have cars or are looking to avoid driving, the Montvale Train Station is only like a five-minute walk from the bowling alley and can be reached via the Pascack Valley Line.
