E-BIKE BRIGADE: Road riding Plum Island and Parker River Refuge

Monday Evening - E-Bike Brigade

Calling all e-bike riders for some road cycling out to Plum Island and the Parker River Refuge. Take advantage of the power of your e-bike.

Our 17.2-mile ride will take us from Riverside Cycle parking lot out and along Water Street via Joppa Flats, to Plum Island and its quaint neighborhoods of Old Point Road, through the Parker River Refuge and along Southern Boulevard and back. There are restrooms available in the refuge.

Enjoy apres-bike time with two other cycling groups upon our return to Riverside.

Meet-up time: 4:45 pm
Roll out time: 5:00 pm sharp
Elevation : 27’
Pace: 12-16 mph

Rules of the Road:

• MAX speed is 16mph (descents tend to be faster!)
• Leave a bike-length gap behind the rider ahead of you
• Announce if you are passing a rider, and pass ONLY on the left
• When riding on a road with a bike lane, stay INSIDE the bike lane
• When riding on backroads or in the refuge, ride NO MORE than two abreast, and hug the inside shoulder
• On narrow roads with sharp corners, stay SINGLE FILE on the corners
• If you hear "CAR BACK!" hug the right shoulder and stay single file until the car passes
• Helmets; REAR LIGHTS; and bright, neon, or reflector clothing tops are mandatory for ALL riders!
• Front lights are advisable for the ride home

You also agree to assume all mental, physical, financial, and/or other risk associated with this meetup. Kayaking, camping, hiking, bicycling, and other similar activities pose inherent risks and dangers. Participation in these activities is voluntary and dependent upon your own personal judgment. As organizers, we make no claims regarding any expertise for this outing. This is not a guided tour.
