In the situation where the event becomes full and there is a waitlist, and to ensure kindness, common courtesy and respect to those on the waitlist, we are instituting new policies to incentivize managing RSVPs appropriately.

1st No Show/RSVP Change is a freebie.
2nd No Show/RSVP Change will result in your status for the next event being moved to "Not Going."
3rd No Show/RSVP Change will result in the status for your next 2 events being moved to "Not Going."

Any subsequent no shows will result in your status in every event thereafter moved to "Not Going" until a discussion can be had with the group leaders and yourself regarding the constant violations of our terms.

Hi folks! We'll meet the hike at 9 am at the parking lot at Cold Spring Harbor State Park, 95 Harbor Road, Cold Spring Harbor, NY 11724, by the trailhead. If it is raining or the forecast is more than 50% chance of rain during the time of the meetup, then check back on this page one hour before the hike to see if the meetup is cancelled.

We will hike the ~5.4 mile out-and-back trail, on the "Nassau-Suffolk" trail, Cold Spring Harbor to Stillwell Lane and back to the starting point.

Cold Spring Harbor HIke -AllTrails

We will wait 10 minutes for any latecomers before starting. This is a rugged hike, somewhat challenging, with hills (elevation gain ~839 feet).

According to the AllTrails app it takes an average of 2 hours 25 minutes to complete but we will take some short breaks, so give it 3 hours.

If parking in the lot is full, there is street parking a couple of blocks up the road.

Liability Waiver:
Participating in our hikes or other outdoor activities involves inherent risks. You could face serious injury, medical emergency, or even death. You are responsible for knowing the trails and staying with the group. You should also be aware of your surroundings and trail conditions at all times. By participating in these events, you agree to do so at your own risk and to take full responsibility for your own safety and well-being, as well as that of your guests. You agree not to hold the Organizer, Co-Organizer, Assistant Organizers, Event Organizer, Event Hosts, Hike Leader or any other members liable for any injuries, mishaps, or any other situation that may occur at a planned event.
