Can Stoic Practice be Measured?
Details
In this session, we will explore the Stoic Attitudes and Behaviours Scale (SABS), which seeks to scientifically measure and quantify Stoicism as a life philosophy.
SABS was first developed by Donald Robertson in 2013, was further developed by several experts through five versions and was used to complete scientific research during Stoic Weeks 2019 to 2022. The results of the research study were published in Cognitive Therapy and Research in June 2025.
We will review the background of SABS, look at the research study results, and discuss how the seven SABS dimensions correlate with well-being.
All are welcome and no outside reading or experience is required. However, The following articles provide some context- feel free to read ahead of the meeting. We'll be online, and the link will be posted just prior to the meeting time.
