4th of July on the River! Paddle, Picnic, and Fireworks

This is a multi group event sponsored by the North Texas River Runners and TC Paddlesports. Please read the entire event description. If you have your own boat, light, and PFD, the event is free.

Rental boats are available for $50 per person. Because the event requires that we trailer boats in we have only a very limited number of boats.

Light kits are available for $5 rental. (rental boats come with lights, PFD, paddles). PFD's required to be worn at all times on the water. Lights required for the night section of the paddle.

Whitewater Chutes: If the water is high enough for the drops, folks can drop boats at the Trinity Park Kayak Launch in the afternoon. Then go park up by Double Drop on River Dr, (Near 2500 River Drive) and paddle the kayak chutes.

6:00PM PICNIC We will meet near Double Drop, the last of the chutes, leave the boats on the gravel bank, and meet for a picnic dinner (Bring your own picnic but it is always nice to have stuff to share). We will set up near shade and will bring a 10x10 pop up to help with shade. If you have your own, bring that as well. The river there is also a nice swimming hole to cool off. Those coming only for the picnic or for the Fireworks Paddle should arrive by 7:00. Address is 2500 River Drive. Be aware they have been known to close the park if it gets too full, so you might have to hike in. If you are bringing your own boat, earlier is safer for getting into the park.

7:30PM Fireworks Paddle. After dinner we will put lights on the boats, launch from below Double Drop, and paddle the mile to the Henderson St. Bridge where we will listen to the last of the concert, then be in the perfect spot to watch the fireworks display that begins at 9:30PM. After the fireworks we will paddle serenely back to Double Drop while all others at the event are stuck in traffic.

If you are renting you must arrive no later than 7:15PM. Everyone will be expected to help launch recover, and carry kayaks.
If you are renting and you want to run the chutes, you must let me know and you must arrive by 5:00PM.
