Brandywine Trail Loop to Cal-check Suspension Bridge

Details

About the Hike:

Check out this 5.7-mile loop trail near Whistler, British Columbia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 21 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding and hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

There are many trails in the Brandywine Falls Provincial Park worth checking out. The falls themselves are only a short hike south from the parking lot, but this loop trail visits them last. It heads north on the Lava Lake Trail and up to the Cal Cheak Suspension Bridge, about a 500-metre detour each way. It then follows the river south and onto the Sea to Sky trail for a bit before visiting the Brandywine Falls

Reviewes:

1-We split the loop in what we thought would be a nicer walk but would recommend doing the full loop. Split trail had lots of rocks and uneven terrain. Great hike but definitely took it out of us!
Conditions: Muddy, Poisonous plants
2-This round trip trail cross-crosses electrical wires through-out. The falls are definitely worth the trip.
Difficulty: Moderate
3-Much of this trail is on a dirt road and the rest is a gravel trail. Only a couple of short, steeper sections, but otherwise mostly flat. Buggy in places but not overwhelming. The falls lookout was the best part. Seeing the confluence from the suspension bridge was also very cool. You can park pretty close to both of those and thereby skip the middle of this hike and go on to do another hike in the area with the rest of your day.
4-Fresh scat along the trail, and heard a grunt/groan at the 3km and 6km mark, so definitely be bear aware. Apart from the falls and bridge, not too much to see apart from several ponds. Lots of overgrowth around 3.5-6kms in, and trail is poorly marked at times.

Difficulty, Distance, and Elevation:
Easy with moderate option, 9.2 k trail, 211 meters of elevation gain.
