Brother’s Creek Loop: Easy

Details
About the hike:
This is a very popular area for hiking and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
The Brother’s Creek Loop is a mostly low traffic, beautiful trail located close to Vancouver. There are a few entrance points from the streets and all of them end up on the trail, making this a great route to shorten, extend, or to follow exactly to make the most of the area and your personal level of experience. The trail has many forks, and you can generally decide which ones you would like to go on. To stay on Brother’s Creek, you have to take the right fork at each split.
Since there are no major viewpoints throughout the route, people recommend adding little sections from other forks to add some vistas. Since the trail is well-marked with points of interest, folks should be able to enjoy the offshoots. A popular addition is to go to Blue Gentian lake, which is worth the additional 1.7 kilometres, since this is a very serene pond and usually does not have too many people, which is rare for metro Vancouver hiking.
Since the trail is mostly covered by a tree canopy, but not super dense, this is the perfect route for both staying cool in hot summer days, and staying mostly dry during the wet season in winter and spring. If interested, you can also decide to go up to check out Lost Lake before walking back to Brother’s Creek Bridge. The bridge has been washed out in the past and may not be rebuilt, so crossing this creek can sometimes be hazardous and should only attempted by experienced people. In high summer, folks can often cross the river without the bridge by walking over the rocks as the water is lower.
The lower sections of the loop are often more muddy than higher points, due to the lakes and creeks, so wearing appropriate footwear is recommended. During summer hiking, families will love the nice flowers and plentiful berry bushes - which are also a favourite of bears.
