Dog Mountain: Easy

Details
About the hike:
Enjoy this 3.0-mile out-and-back trail near Woodlands, British Columbia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a very popular area for hiking, snowshoeing, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Dog Mountain Trail is a popular and well-marked trail that overlooks north Vancouver and is located in Mount Seymour Provincial Park. The well-maintained trail is relatively flat and easy with only minor rolling elevation gain. It is rated moderate only because of all the exposed roots caused by the heavy traffic.
This is a child-friendly route, though the youngest may struggle with the exposed roots. The trail is open to dogs on leash and you can expect to see many. The best way to avoid traffic is to show up early, and you can expect the parking lot to fill up quickly.
The trail crosses First Lake and several creeks and finishes at the exposed summit of Dog Mountain. There, you can and enjoy a beautiful view of Vancouver and the Bay Area. The Seymour resort offers a large parking lot, cafe, picnic area, washroom, and other amenities. The trail starts at the top of the parking lot, past the cafe, on the left. You will find a trail map information board that confirms you are on the right path.
Recreators should wear crampons or spikes in winter to stay safe on icy rocks and along transition zones between low-temperate forests and high-elevation snow.
