Frosty Mountain Trail and Golden Larches: Hard

Details

About the Hike:
Frosty Mountain Trail and Golden Larches
Weather Permitting. If weather does not cooperate, event will be postponed to Sunday or next Saturday, October 11th.

This is a Hard Hike.
Head out on this 20.9 kilometre, 1,232 meters gained elevation out and back hike in Manning Park, British Columbia. Generally considered HARD (4.7*), takes an average of 8 hours to complete, excluding resting time. This is a very popular area for hiking and running, specially in the first two weeks of October to view Golden Larches. It’s that time of year when the larch trees on Mount Frosty turn their beautiful golden colour!
What are larch trees? They are one of the only coniferous, deciduous trees. This means the needles on this tree change colour seasonally and fall off. At the end of September to early October, the 2000+ year-old larch trees on Mount Frosty turn to gold and are truly a sight to behold! Don’t wait too long, as the trees will start dropping their needles mid-October.
Attendees have two choices of starting driving early in the morning and making it a day trip.
Alternatively, attendees may choose to stay over night at any of the motels in Hope, Manning Park Lodges or Air B&B lodges nearby.
