About the Hike

Discover this 11.3-km out-and-back trail near Lions Bay, British Columbia — a moderately challenging route that’s well-loved by hikers, birdwatchers, and snowshoers alike. Open year-round, this scenic trail offers a peaceful forest experience and is a great choice any time of the year.

This path serves as an alternate route to Tunnel Bluffs, beginning from Lions Bay. Be prepared for a steep ascent at the start, which gradually levels out as you progress. While most of the trail winds through dense forest with limited views, the breathtaking lookout at the end makes the climb worthwhile.

Keep in mind that parking at Tunnel Bluffs is restricted to just 30 minutes. For a more convenient option, consider using the Sunset Trailhead Parking Lot, though it can fill up during peak times as it’s managed through the Flowbird app. A good free alternative is the elementary school overflow lot, located about a 15-minute walk from the trailhead. A portable toilet is also available on-site for convenience.

Trail signage is minimal, so it’s recommended to download offline maps in advance to help you locate and stay on the correct path.
