Baden Powell: Lynn Valley to Deep Cove via Homestead Trail - Intermediate+
Details
Description:
This novel route will combine some of our favourite trails to avoid bridge closures.* We will begin at End of the Line General Store, take Homestead Trail through a scenic forest to the Seymour River, then join the Baden Powell Trail near the Seymour River (i.e. we will skip Lynn Canyon). We will hike through moody forests and ascend the Seymour Grind. The trail will culminate at Quarry Rock, then descend to Deep Cove and Honey's Doughnuts.
Hiking in this direction will involve both uphill as well as long downhill stretches, including on a steep staircase. You should be fit enough to handle steep uphills and rough terrain.
This hike is one way. If you park at Kilmer Park, you will need to find your own way back to get your car. There is bus service in Deep Cove.
Difficulty, Distance, and Elevation:
15 km, ~350 m elevation gain.
*Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge is closed. There is also a report on AllTrails of a trail closure around Seymour River bridge but I can find nothing official online. If we must detour, there are many trail options to explore.
