About the Hike:

PLEASE READ BEFORE CLICKING "ATTEND"

Come explore the snowshoe trails at Grouse Mountain. We will meet in front of the Grouse Mountain Chalet and complete the Snowshoe Grind, Dam Mountain Loop, and Thunderbird Ridge, for a total distance of approximately 7 km. After the hike, we will enjoy hot chocolate and snacks at Grouse Mountain.

This is a weather permitting event. If there is extreme weather (high winds, heavy snow, severe cold) the event will be rescheduled.

To ride the gondola, you will need a Grouse Mountain Day Admission Ticket (not a day skiing ticket - those are more expensive), Season's Ski Pass, or Annual Pass. Alternatively, you can climb BCMC and meet us at the top. Allow 1.5-2 hours to climb BCMC, depending on your fitness.

We will be meeting at the Chalet (at the top) NOT in the parking lot. Make sure you give yourself enough time to ride the gondola up BEFORE the meeting time, especially if you plan to rent snowshoes. If you are late, we will not wait.

*Before pressing attend please be certain you'll attend. In the case of 3 "No-Shows" or 3 "Not Going", attendees may be removed from the group.

Tips for winter events:

  • Dress in layers so you can adjust.
  • Don't wear cotton. Choose wool, polar fleece, down jackets, or synthetics.
  • Wear waterproof outer layers. Staying dry is 90% of the battle to stay warm in winter.
  • Gaiters will help keep snow out of your hiking boots.
  • Cover your head and hands.
  • Don't forget sunglasses or ski goggles. Snow reflects sunlight.
  • Put hot water in your water bottle so it doesn't freeze.
  • Keep your phone close to your body.
