NW Hikers #2 — Mam Tor & The Great Ridge, Peak District
Details
The second one. Shorter drive, shorter day, bigger views.
MeetUp only lets me do max attendance of 10 for now... drop me your details through the website and I'll get you in the group 💃
NW Hikers is a walking group for 25 to 35 year olds. These are proper full-day hikes, not casual strolls, so we keep the group to a similar age and fitness level to make sure everyone's comfortable and the pace works. Nothing personal if you're outside that range, there are brilliant groups out there for all ages. This one just happens to be ours.
Mam Tor and the Great Ridge is one of the finest ridge walks in England. A 3km ridgeline with the Edale valley dropping away to the north and Hope Valley to the south. Four summits, a hidden limestone gorge for the finish, and Winnats Pass looking like something carved by giants the entire way. 13km, 654m of climbing, 4.5 to 5.5 hours. Moderate. A step down from Fairfield but more varied terrain.
The logistics Meet at Cross Street Car Park, Castleton, S33 8WH at 9:15am. Pay and display, coins only (no cards, no change at the machines), around £7–8 for all day. Bring coins. Liverpool: 1hr 20min via M62/M60. Manchester: 50–55min via A6/A624.

New to the group? Aaron will message you before the day with everything you need. Someone will find you at the car park on the morning. You won't be standing around not knowing what's happening.
Coffees Aaron broke his stove on the first hike and couldn't deliver. He's bringing it again. No promises.
