Join us for the North Chicago Calisthenics Meetup! Whether you're a veteran calisthenics athlete or a complete beginner, you'll find a supportive and motivating community here.

This session, we will be meeting at the Burnam Shores Park near Evanston for a hybrid running and beginner-oriented pull workout. There are pullup bars we will be using and there is running path that features fun fitness accessories along the way!

We will begin with a meet-and-greet, icebreakers, and introductions before proceeding with an optional run + beginner-oriented pull-focused group workout. If you partake in the group workout, feel free to modify the movement based on your level and ask questions as you need.

Group Calisthenics Workout:

  1. Warm-Up (15 minutes):
  • Jumping Jacks & High Knees (5 minutes)
  • Dynamic Stretch (5 minutes)
  • Band Shoulder & Scapular Activation (5 Minutes)
  1. Skill Practice (15 minutes):
  • Controlled Chest-To-Bar Pullups (or Muscle-Up Attempts) (3 sets of 5 Quality Reps)
  • Banded Front Lever Raises (Or Front Lever Holds) (3 sets of 5 Quality Reps)
  1. Workout Routine (20 minutes):
  • Band-Assisted Pullups (3 sets of 10-15 reps)
  • Parallette Pushups (3 sets of 10-15 reps)
  • Ring Rows (3 sets of 10-15 reps)
  1. Run Finisher (20 minutes):
  • 2 Mile Jog/Run Along Beach Path
  1. Cool Down (5 minutes):
  • Light Stretching focusing on Shoulders, Chest, and Triceps

Attendees are also welcome to do their own workouts as they please. I will provide resistance bands and wooden rings, but feel free to bring your own gear, too.

Please feel free to share advice and experience you have with calisthenics or ask any questions. Everyone here is a friend and we all want to see each other grow! 🤗

Location & Parking:

The Pullup Bars for Burnam Shores Park is next to a tennis court. Paid parking is available along the street and neighborhood parking is accessible closer to the park at Dempster and Lakeshore.
