This time, we’ll be reading The Leopard** by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa**, a classic of Italian literature 🇮🇹, and recently voted 46th in the Guardian's top 100 novels. We head to 1860, following a Sicilian prince as he decides how to react to Garibaldi's quest for Italian unification.

We can dive deep into the themes of the novel - the ephemeral nature of power, the way Tomasi uses the passage of time, the historical context, and the personal impact this novel has when the author is the last in a line of princes himself.

This is one to check off your "classic novel" bucket list, receiving much high-praise from top authors - L.P. Hartley described it as "perhaps the greatest novel of the century", while E.M. Forster said it "has made me realize how many ways there are of being alive".

The Centurion is a relaxed, elegant and spacious bar with comfortable seating and a quiet atmosphere, well-suited to literary conversations! 📕🍷

Converted from the historic first class lounge at** Central Station **🚂✨, its luxuriant environs are situated at ground floor level, easily accessible, with public transport links aplenty nearby. If you’re feeling peckish there are various shops adjacent that you can pick up nibbles from.

This is an open session, so feel free to drop by at any time during the evening - we’re pretty easygoing ☺️.

**Hope you can join us! **🤩
