Field Trip - Lazy Acres Ranch AND Cheese Importers; Longmont
Details
The Northern Burbs have been invited to participate in this fun and informative event with Brent's Connecting Colorado foodies group! Check out the details below:
Let's tour Lazy Acres Ranch in Longmont! We'll learn the difference between regenerative farming practices versus sustainable ones, what organic genuinely means, and how farm to table really works. Owners Kris and Becca raise pigs (a Berkshire mix), chickens, and meat rabbits on 6 acres. Berkshire pork is special because it's a heritage breed known for its rich marbling, deep color, and superior tenderness, juiciness, and flavor. After we visit and learn, everybody will have the opportunity to acquire pork cuts, whole chickens, and whole rabbits raised at the ranch - all frozen. Farm fresh eggs may be available too. For those interested in buying items to take home, credit cards are accepted. Web site is: https://www.lazy-acres-ranch.com/. Fun Fact! Kris and Becca also raise Bernedoodles!!
Then, we drive together to Cheese Importers, a family owned gourmet grocery store also in Longmont. Here resides Colorado's largest walk-in cheese and cured meat cooler. Other items there include oils, vinegars, chocolate, spices, European housewares, wine, etc. Moxie Bread Co., known for their genuine sourdough bread, recently opened a cafe inside and also sells bread and other fresh bakery items there. Web site is: https://cheeseimporters.com/.
We'll meet at Lazy Acres ranch at 12:45pm. Tour begins at 1pm, so that will give us time to introduce ourselves, get nametags on, etc. The subsequent journey to Cheese Importers is recommended, but not required.
You may want to bring a cooler to place purchased items, although items from the ranch are frozen and should be able to make it back to your home without one if placed in a shady spot in your vehicle. Also, the walk-in cooler at Cheese Importers is chilly and we will be outside at Lazy Acres Ranch, so also bring a coat. I anticipate that the entire event will take 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
