Details

Eagle Campground: site #22
Location: The Eagle campground is on Gallatin Rd about 16 miles north of the town of Susanville.

Fee: We want everyone to feel this is your camping group by contributing to the Meetup cost. We will provide a “tip” bucket at our campsite and Linda, and I ask each family to pay $5 per event.

Eagle Lake at elevation 5100 feet is the second largest natural freshwater lake wholly in California, Having no natural surface outlet. The lake features water sports, fishing and swimming. The surrounding BLM and Forest Service Land provide opportunity for biking, hiking, camping, hunting, wildlife photography, horseback riding and more. The northern and middle sections of the lake are bordered by sagebrush hills, and the southern end is forested with pine and fir. Surface water temperatures between 65 to 80 degrees in the summer. Each site has picnic table, fire ring and food storage locker, no hook-ups.

Website: Information and campground map: There are 5 Forest Service campgrounds in this area. Be sure you are going to the Eagle Campground.

Reserve: your site by calling Toll Free 1-877-444-6777 or online at https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232247
This is a popular summertime campground; reservations open Dec. 25.

Each family is responsible for their own reservations, equipment, and meals. We will gather for happy hour at 5 pm each evening to discuss plan for the next day. And we will have a pot luck dinner one evening. Bring your own chair and beverage. I plan to hike and/or paddle every day. Lunch will often be on the trail or beach.

Artists: Linda will be sketching, painting, nature journaling, and you are welcome to join her and do your own art work or just hang out with her.
