We are pleased to welcome Professor Jonathan Lanman, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cognition and Culture at Queen's University Belfast.

Jonathan will be walking us through the Explaining Atheism project, a significant piece of research that aims to pin down exactly why and how atheism arises. Rather than relying on speculation, this project looks at the specific cognitive and cultural forces that shape the landscape of belief.

The talk will cover:

The Evidence: What the data actually says about the causes of atheism and secularism globally.

Cognition vs Culture: How our minds and our social environments interact to produce non-belief.

The Research: Insights from Jonathan's work at the Institute of Cognition & Culture and the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics.

This is a great opportunity to get a look at the academic side of humanism and ask questions about the real drivers behind the secular shift.

All are welcome. Please register for a place if you would like to attend.

This event is free, but we welcome donations, which help with our running costs.
