Heal Creek Snowshoe Trail, Saturday, January 10th, 10:30 am--12:30 pm. meet at the trailhead parking lot.
We finally got some snow in northern Wisconsin. So now is the time to get outside and enjoy it before it melts. Let's go to the Heal Creek Snowshoe Trail a few miles west of Rhinelander. Depending on which loop we want to do, we're looking at 1 or 2 miles of fun. There are no major elevation changes, so this makes the adventure pretty stress free. I was on the trail a few days ago and it is perfect for snowshoeing and down right beautiful with all the hanging snow in the trees. For informational purposes there is a porta potty close to the trailhead. This is a dog friendly trail so bring your best friend out to have some fun too. For those of us that want to socialize a bit more after the snowshoe, I plan on heading over to Culvers for a raspberry sundae. Directions from Rhinelander: From the roundabout (Hwy 8 and 47) travel west on Hwy 8 app 3 miles and turn left onto Golf Course Rd. Drive past the golf course clubhouse on your right, and continue driving straight ahead under the green ski banner into the trailhead parking lot to the left of the storage building. A donation of $5.00 per event is requested for non-NPT members which can be paid at the event. Membership for NPT is $10.00/year. To become a NPT member go to northernpaddleandtrail.org and click in the upper righthand corner and find membership. Hope to see you on the trail. - J
