Ice Fishing - Boom Lake, Rhinelander Meet at Hodag Park Boat Landing
Northern Paddle and Trail (NPT) is going to do an event never attempted before. We're going to have a party on the ice. A safe frozen lake to be precise. As a special treat, ice fishing will be part of the festivities. If you have never ice fished in your life and are somewhat curious what it is all about, this event is for you. Somewhat like Ice Fishing 101. Experienced ice fishing enthusiasts are encouraged to join in on the fun as well. The Wisconsin DNR has designated Jan 17-18 as a free fishing weekend, so you will not need a fishing license, but will need to follow all the other fishing regulations that apply. All equipment and bait will be provided, along with hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, water and hot chocolate. We will be located app. 100 yds on the lake to the right as you stand at the landing looking out onto the lake. You will see a black portable ice shack with the NPT banner proudly displayed next to it. Stay as long as you like, a few minutes to several hours. A donation of $5.00 per event is requested for non-NPT members which can be paid at the event. Membership for NPT is $10.00/year. To become a NPT member go to northernpaddleandtrail.org and click in the upper righthand corner and find membership. Hope to see you on the ice - J ( Co-hosting will be NPT members Dave Hansen and Jim Brouch)
