The NPT Book Club monthly meeting will be Monday, April 13th at the Rhinelander District Library from 11:30 am-12:30 pm, in the lower level conference room. All NPT members are invited to attend any of the monthly meetings. The major theme of the books that are selected are based on some aspect of nature. You're welcome to join in at any time, or just sit in and listen to our lively discussions. Our next read in April is The Nature of Oaks, The Rich Ecology of Our Most Essential Native Trees by Douglas W. Tallamy. This is an easy read without getting bogged down in a lot of scientific jargon.. The book's chapters are broken down by the seasons and contain information on what is going on in the life of an oak. Did you know that Blue Jays can carry up to five acorns at once while in flight and are a major agent of introducing oaks to new areas? I am presently reading The Nature of Oaks and finding it very worthwhile and informative. After reading this book you'll have a better appreciation for the oak tree growing in your yard and its role in saving our planet. The library has copies reserved under NPT Book Club and can be picked up at the reference desk. We hope to see you there. - J
