Wildflower walk at Manassas Battlefield Deep Cut

Details
Peter will lead a 3~4 mile hike through the Deep Cut trail at Manassas National Battlefield Park. During the Fall, a variety of wildflower species bloom in this meadow habitat. Of particular interest are the large number of Tickseed Sunflowers which bloom at this time. Our guide, Peter will e happy to help you identify these delicate and beautiful flowers for your own education and to share the gift of nature with others.
We will meet at the Deep Cut parking area. On Google Maps, this parking area is identified as Groveton Monument Parking. If the parking area is full, you can park at the Unfinished Railroad parking lot, which is 1/3 mile further up Featherbed Lane, and follow the Second Manassas trail back to Deep Cut. There are no restrooms at these parking areas, but restrooms are available at the Henry Hill Visitor Center.
Please bring water and bug spray and wear appropriate hiking shoes. Sun hat and sunglasses are also suggested.
The hike will be easy mostly. Dogs are allowed at Manassas Battlefield's Deep Cut area, as long as they are kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
In case of rains, we will postpone to Sunday Sept. 7th.
