Warrandyte River to Pound Bend Reserve Loop + Market (8km)

Meet in the carpark near the toilets at 101 Yarra Street, Warrandyte. Note: the start point is not at the market.

We will walk along the Warrandyte River through the market (without stopping). From here, we have a short walk along Everard Drive (note: this is a quiet road, but there is no footpath - keep to the side of the road and be conscious of a few passing cars) to Pound Bend Reserve. We'll walk along the river and through a quiet forest path, hoping to see kangaroos and wallabies before returning along Everard Drive and the riverbank path to the monthly Warrandyte Riverside Market. The walk finishes at the market.

The walk is *mostly* flat, but includes a few uphill sections, one long series of steps down and some uneven single file paths. We will walk about 5km an hour and it's best to keep the group in sight so the rest of the group does not need to stop too often.

Note: dogs are not permitted on sections of this walk

Running late?

We'll wait up to five minutes for latecomers then we start walking. Leave extra time for parking as it will be busy on a market day! It has proved very difficult to guide latecomers on this walk and it detracts from the experience of other walkers so if arriving after 9.05 unfortunately you have missed the walk. You could still go for a self guided walk along the river and around the market if you wish, but you have missed the group walk. Please do not expect detailed directions via message or phone call after 9.05.

* designated parking areas off Yarra St (on the northern side of the road)

* opposite the Warrandyte Grand Hotel

* next to the Stonehouse Gallery

* opposite Webb Street

*Further parking is available at the combined sporting ground (Taroona Ave), Behind the Warrandyte Community Centre at Yarra St, and the North Warrandyte Community Centre, and in Brackenbury St next to Warrandyte Primary School.

Toilets: There are toilets at the start and the end of the walk.
