Mom or Grandma Would Love this Gentle Walk to View the Beautiful Intracoastal

Details
Castaway Island Preserve is a 311-acre nature park in eastern Jacksonville on the west bank of the Intracoastal Waterway. We will be walking in one of the few places where all ages can enjoy a stunning view from a raised platform out into the marsh and distant bridge and boats.
The park is is great shape, with a paved informative nature trail where we usually see wildlife, and native gardens newly planted by the Timucuan Parks Foundation and Master Gardeners.
Castaway received an Award of Honor from the American Society of Landscape Architects as it is wheelchair accessible along the paved trail.
All of the park is accessible (the dock boards are very slightly uneven but wouldn't pose difficulty to most).
This will be a leisurely walk of about a mile at a pace to accommodate the slowest participant and photographers. No dogs please.
Meet at the 10 picnic tables before the main building/garden on the right side halfway through the park. Look for a Florida Trail Blazers sign or my orange t-shirt.
The only restroom facility available is a porta-john at this location. (There are many fast food places on Beach Blvd with restrooms.) Bring a water bottle, hat and sunscreen and camera or binoculars if you'd like.

You will be turning onto San Pablo from Beach Boulevard. Be aware that your right turn off San Pablo into Castaway is very tight as it comes up fast. Look for the brown park sign.
