The Florida Trail needs a little loving after a summer of active plant growth. Come love on our section of the Florida Trail that parallels the Suwannee River just east of White Springs. We will work to get the trail in shape for hiking season.
We will meet at the Bell Springs trailhead at 0900 for a safety briefing, then start to work on nearby sections of the trail. We will not be working with any power tools or mowers. No experience is necessary, just a desire to help out.
We will work a while then stop to enjoy a picnic lunch along the Suwannee River. Expect to walk 4-6 miles. You are welcome to stay to hike more on your own or with other Trailblazers after the work is completed. The trail is beautiful!
Bring 2+ liters of water to drink, a picnic lunch and snacks, closed toe shoes, long pants, long sleeved shirt, and work gloves. If you do not have your own personal protective equipment, you will be provided with a stylish orange FTA hard hat and safety glasses to wear during trail work. Please bring your own loppers if you have them. There are no facilities at the trailhead, so be sure that your water bottles are full on arrival.
Please only sign up if you are committed to attending this event. Thanks for helping maintain the Florida Trail!
