13-Mile Florida Trail Fundraiser Hike – Gold Head Branch State Park (North FL Trailblazers)
Join us for a beautiful 13-mile adventure along the Florida Trail in scenic Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park! This section features some of North Florida’s most diverse and breathtaking ecosystems — from rolling sandhills and longleaf pine forests to shady hardwood hammocks, seepage ravines, and peaceful lakeside views. It’s one of the most unique landscapes in the region and a true Florida treasure.
We will maintain a moderate pace with planned breaks to hydrate, refuel, and enjoy the surroundings. This distance and terrain require endurance, so this should not be your first hike. Participants should be comfortable hiking 10+ miles on uneven terrain.
Please bring:
- Plenty of water (hydration is key!)
- Lunch and trail snacks
- Closed-toe hiking shoes or boots
- Hiking poles (strongly recommended for elevation changes and sandy sections)
- Sun protection (hat and/or sunscreen)
Park Entrance Fee:
There is a $5 per vehicle entrance fee for the park, and participants will be responsible for paying this fee upon arrival.
As a volunteer-led group, we’re proud to offer these experiences to our community. We kindly ask for a suggested $25 cash donation to the North FL Trailblazers chapter. At this time, we are not able to accept cards or checks — cash only, please. The area we will be hiking is maintained by the North FL Trailblazers, and all donations go directly toward the maintenance and upkeep of this section of the Florida Trail. Your support helps ensure the trail remains accessible, safe, and beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
Additional Details:
Directions for parking, meeting location, and additional event details will be posted at a later time.
Come prepared, come ready, and come experience the wild beauty of Gold Head with us!
