Evening Hiking Series - Trail at University of North Florida
Details
๐ฅพ๐ฟ Evening Hiking Series #5 โ UNF Nature Trails
Join the North FL Trailblazers for the fifth hike in our Evening Hiking Series as we explore the beautiful nature trails at the University of North Florida.
These trails were first made public in 1977 and were later recognized as National Recreation Trails by the U.S. Department of the Interior. For this hike weโll be traveling along the Gopher Tortoise Ridge and Big Cypress Loop, a peaceful route of approximately 3 miles. The trail offers a quiet, mostly shaded hiking experience with opportunities to observe native plants and local wildlife.
This will be a relaxed evening hike designed to help us unwind from the week and enjoy the natural surroundings.
### ๐ ฟ๏ธ Parking
Parking is free on weekends, but weekday parking requires a $5 fee.
### ๐ What to Bring
- Water (mandatory)
- Sun protection
- Sturdy hiking shoes
### โ ๏ธ Safety Request
Please create a personal emergency medical card and keep it in an easily accessible place in your pocket or pack during the hike.
### ๐ฟ Trail Experience
While we always enjoy good conversation, we are encouraging a quieter hiking experience for this event. Keeping conversation to a minimum helps everyone relax, enjoy the sounds of nature, and increases our chances of spotting wildlife along the trail.
