Join the North Florida Trailblazers for a day hike on the Hammocks Trail. The Hammocks Trail is an approximately 1.4 mile loop trail located at the Fort Caroline National Monument. The Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve Visitor Center is located at this location. The Visitor Center provides information and displays related to the Timucuan Indians as well as the first French settlement in the area. The visitor center is available for you to visit on your own, following the hike. The Hammocks Trail is a mostly shaded trail with some elevation changes that is located within the preserve. There are opportunities to visit a replica of Fort Caroline, take in views of the St. Johns River as well as see various birds along this natural surfaced trail.

Parking is free and the park along with entering the visitor center is free. There are restrooms available along with a water fountain also located adjacent to the visitor center.

What you should bring:
Water-while this is a short hike it is very hot and humid
Bug Spray
Closed toe shoes or boots that are appropriate for hiking
Sunscreen (although the trail is mostly shaded)
A Personal Emergency Medical Card to carry on your person during the hike

While not required some hikers may wish to bring hiking poles for this trail. There are some portions that are steep and contain some roots.

Please do not bring any pets or children.
