What we’re about
Welcome to North Shore Dinner, Drinks & Social !
It's right there in the name! We are a fun and friendly group of people based in Sydney's North Shore suburbs who like to meet up for dinner, drinks and fun socialising along the (Upper and Lower) North Shore and Northern Beaches ⛱️
The group is open to 30(ish)-60(ish)s age groups who live, work or socialise on Sydney's North Shore and have good vibes and respect for each other's beliefs and lifestyles.
Unlike some other Meetup groups that merely exist to 'drum up business' and spam members with irrelevant or out-of-area tours or functions, NSDD&S will host a variety of fun local events that we hope you'll find engaging to attend.
We don't charge membership fees, but there may be an occasional cost or gratuity asked for individual events, to contribute to the running costs and Meetup subscription fees.
Group "Rules" - the Dos and Don'ts:
DO:
- We request that Members have a clear profile picture (of yourself, not your pets or scenery). This makes it easier to identify and welcome you when you attend events!
- Check in often! It keeps the group active and lively.
- Be fair and signal your intentions: Please update your RSVP if you can no longer make an event.
- That one bears repeating: Keep your event RSVP up to date!!
- No-shows without notice show a lack of regard and are disrespectful to the orgs.
- Holding a spot for a no-show is not fair for waitlisted members - meaning they miss out.
- No-shows and late cancellations (after the event starts) are recorded for each event.
- TWO (2) No-Shows will get you removed from the group.
- Be respectful to all members, treat others how you would like to be treated.
- Do make suggestions! If you have viable ideas for events or venues, we're happy to entertain them!
DON'T:
- Don't be a dick. (Wheaton's Law)
- Don't be a creep. Unwelcome suggestive, lascivious or inappropriate comments or actions will get you swiftly removed and permanently banned from the group.
- Don't push your agenda. Not everyone holds the same political, religious or lifestyle views as you. This is a social group, and not everyone wants to be ear-bashed.
- Any hate speech or discriminatory behaviour will get you removed and banned from the group.
- Don't spread your germs. If you're not well, (particularly with flu-like symptoms), update your RSVP and stay home to keep others safe.
- Using the group to spam (with irrelevant content) will also get you removed and banned.
- Using the group to advertise businesses or spruke other groups without the express written permission* of the orgs will also get you removed and banned.
As much as I dislike laying down laws for such a vibrant community, adhering to commonsense guidelines keeps that community vibrant, active, thriving and growing.
We are looking forward to seeing you at one of our events!
Kind regards,
Your friendly neighbourhood Org team.
*PS. Unlike some other groups who have strict rules against advertising or promoting other meetup groups, I'm more than happy to run joint events with other sociable Sydney group orgs - on the proviso that they're not pay-to-attend events. NSDD&S exists as a social meetup group, not to earn revenue.
If you're interested in hosting an event, feel free to message Cadder about becoming an event host!
Welcome, and enjoy!

- Sunday Vinyl Session at Harbord Hilton (new Upstairs) Lunch, Margaritas & ChillHarbord Hotel, Freshwater
Greetings!
This is for all of you lot wot asked me where I disappeared to, and "when are u gunna post another event, Cadder?"... be careful what you wish for!
'cos here's another one!Come Join us in Freshy for a Chill Sunday! 🥗🍸💿🎶
My almost-closest local opened a new rooftop bar that I think it's our NSDD&Socialisers' duty to check out.
Bombies* is what used to be the caretakers' residence on the roof of the Harbord Hotel ... (locals know this as the Harbord Hilton), but is now transformed into an "elevated and vibrant gathering place for the entire community to enjoy".
Including us.Join us at Bombies (linked) for Vinyl Sunday! (also linked)
"Spinning vinyl from 3pm every Sunday with Kenickie Funk. We’ll be grooving across funk, soul, classic rock, indie and the occasional mixed bag. Got a record that deserves a spin? Bring it in for a mix."Fancy a late lunch? .. early Dinner? .. 🤔 Lunner! (Dinch?)
We have a 3pm table booked for lunch menu, and Margarita hour kicks off from 4-6pm. Let us get lost upstairs, chat, chill, and... watch the sun set, or something.🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
*What's Bombies**, precious?
Right on Freshwater beach, birthplace of Aussie surfing... in Aussie surf slang, “bombies” (from the Aboriginal word bombora) refer to offshore reefs that create powerful, unpredictable waves – the kind surfers chase for the ultimate thrill. The name has been given to the rooftop bar to embody that same spirit of spontaneity, adventure and unforgettable moments. 🤙ADDENDUM:
How to get there if you're not driving/riding/walking/local? Either:- Ferry to Manly, catch the 167 Bus from Manly wharf. It stops nearly outside the Hilton.
- Get a B1 Bus from Wynyard to Warringah Mall, Jump on the 167 Bus, it stops across the road from the Hilton going the opposite way, too.
- Get a B1 or 199 from... (pretty much anywhere on the Northern Beaches from Manly to Palmy) to Warringah Mall or Manly, (whichever's closest) and switch to the aforementioned 167.
