If you're a Foodie who enjoys dining out with likeminded people who happen to live on the Northshore (i.e. Revere, Lynn, Swampscott, Marblehead, Salem, Beverly, etc.) and/or around Boston....keep reading.
Are you tired of getting restaurant recommendations from folks who put ketchup on their ketchup and/or scrambled eggs, who drown their sushi rice in soy sauce, who think of beef & broccoli as authentic Chinese food, who are troubled by veal or seeing the face of a whole fish, and/or who are afraid to try eating anything new?
I used to have a dining club when I lived in New York City and was hoping to start another group now that I live in Revere.
Initially, I'm just trying to determine if there are enough folks interested in trying fun and interesting restaurants, primarily on the Northshore and/or in Downtown Boston.
My expectation is to first get some folks engaged in on-line chatter, then have a few meet-n-greets with hors d'oeuvres at local pubs, but then having regularly scheduled events at a diversity of restaurants. For example, my NYC dining group met the first Wednesday of every month for a nearly a decade.
Being a food snob is not all about expensive high-end Michelin-starred places. One of the best things I ate in 2022 was a rice appetizer at a place subsequently nominated for a James Beard Award. One of the best things I've eaten in 2023 was a $10 bowl of eggs steamed with black truffles.
Ultimately, the goal is to make us all more informed Foodies. That does not mean we have to agree about every morsel, it means we have to agree to disagree. Like debating if Manet or Monet was the better painter - we've already established that we understand impressionistic painters. We can do the same thing with food.
Take Notice: I find most alcohol is better after a good meal. I believe that if you have severe food allergies, this may not be a group for you. And while my politics are certainly left-of-center, all views are welcomed if they are well informed.
Finally, and FWIW - I have no other on-line presence and this group is not being formed for any commercial purposes.
