Join us for an online workshop in collaboration with Creative North Wales and M-SParc where we will write our own text based adventure or puzzle game!
Those under 16 are welcome to join too, but must have supervision from a parent or guardian.
Before we get started though we will hear from two video game industry professionals:
Siwan Owen - Associate Producer at Codemasters
"I started my career off in the events industry in North Wales which took me over the border into Manchester. I've coordinated a variety of creative and digital events and meet ups which introduced me to the games industry. I've been blessed to have worked with some amazing people and built up strong networks throughout the North West where I now work as an Associate Producer for Codemasters who lead the way in racing game development."
Rob Griffiths - Game Development Lecturer at Coleg Llandrillo
"I used to work in the industry, ex Sony / TT Games before returning home to teach at the local college. I am an award winning lecturer in games, and we were the best college in the UK for games in 2020. We continue to invest in this growing area. We are registered PlayStation , Nintendo and Xbox Developers and have all the latest equipment. We use industry standard software and process and have a state of the art VE room and incubation projects to support student development."
Workshop from 5pm:
All you need to join in with the workshop is a web browser.
Some of the earliest computer games ever made were text based with no fancy graphics. These were often role playing adventure games or puzzle games with carefully crafted storytelling or devious puzzles.
Many current popular games are text based adventures under the hood such as those by award winning British games company Inkle Studios who have games on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Steam and Nintendo Switch:
