The abandoned village of Wycoller is known as one of Lancashire’s most haunted spots, with Wycoller Hall at its eerie heart. This winter walk invites you to experience the chilling atmosphere of the village in midwinter, accompanied by ghost stories including those of a Spectred Horseman and a mysterious dog-like creature. The walk concludes back at the Atom Car Park, where you can warm up with refreshments.
Preparation and What to Bring
Dress warmly for winter weather: layers, waterproofs, hat, gloves, and sturdy boots are essential.
Bring a warm drink in a flask, some snacks, and spare warm clothes in case you get cold or wet.
Dogs
Only one dog per person is allowed, and it must be kept on a very short fixed lead.
Extendable leads are prohibited due to trip hazards.
Dogs may not be permitted inside the pub where refreshments are served, so plan accordingly.
Young Adults
Young adults aged 14 to 18 can join the walk only after prior consultation with the walk leader.
They must be accompanied by an adult who remains responsible for them throughout the walk.
