DARWEN TOWER FROM RODDLESWORTH
SUMMER SOLAR ECLIPSE EVENING WALK

READ EVERYTHING!
A Rare Opportunity To Take Part in an Event Like This In Central Lancashire
We’ll be leaving the visitor centre car park at around 17:35 to begin our easy paced ascent towards Darwen Tower. (I dictate the pace!)

The Eclipse begins at 18:13, but won’t be at its maximum until 19:10, the shadow will gradually disappear at 20:04 it’s gone.
Duration 1hr 54mins

WHY ITS AN EXCELLENT VIEWPOINT
The Viewpoint is at 370 m on Darwen Beacon Hill & affords one of the best views in our area.
With a sweeping open panorama W‑SW over moors, Fylde & coast it has no foreground blockage right down to the horizon. We’ll keep sight of the Sun right until the very end.

What to wear:
Dress for the weather, but ensure you have warm clothing, hat & gloves with you. Must have boots or shoes with a good grip.

Bring: something to eat and drink also something to sit on. A torch is very much essential as it could go dark before we get back to the car park.

Young People: If you bring a young person you must be legally responsible for them & you remain fully responsible for them, their actions, safety & behaviour throughout the walk. Any young person coming must be fully equipped and be capable of completing the walk on foot.

No Dogs: As it’s going dark & it could be busy we may lose them. It’s a big moor!

Weather: The walk is very much weather dependant, if we’re not going to see anything at all we’ll have to cancel.

Safety Reminder
Always use ISO 12312‑2 certified eclipse glasses throughout, never view the sun directly with naked eyes, sunglasses, or unfiltered cameras/phones.
