We use the Shared Inquiry Method to discuss interesting pieces of literature, such as this classic parable asking three questions: When is the best time to do something? Who are the most important people? What is the most important thing? Whether you’re a first time book club attendee or a lifetime member, you’ll be surprised at the thoughtful, illuminating, and entertaining conversations that ensue!
There are four guidelines for participating in a Great Books Discussion:
- Read the work.
- Use the text to support your ideas (no outside sources).
- The leader is not an authority on the discussion.
- Further the discussion by listening to what others say and follow-up on the train of thought. Focus on what you hear.
