9th Annual BIG DIG event

Details

Hey @25 hikers,

SAVE THIS DATE:
Saturday, 12th of July, 10-3pm

If you have hiked with us please join us at our infamous tramily 9th annual BIG DIG beach picnic.

It’s a great time to socialize, re-connect with long time friends, and meet new members.

Between 10-1pm, low tide is at -2.3. Bruddah Joe will entertain you doing the BIG DIG, and of course, you are welcome to join him and help as a “diggah”, a “jumpah”, or a “fillah”.

If you haven’t been on our beach, you’ll squeal getting squirted by a horse clam, find an unusual crescent sand object shaped by a moon snail, weird long legged spider crabs crawling away from you, or even find a rock crab hidden in sand or seaweed.

Footwear on the beach: old shoes, aqua shoes, crocs, or even boots.

The usual hamburger / plant-based burger 🍔lunch with all the toppings and groundwater from our natural aquifer with that yummy lemony flavor to settle your thirst are provided by our meetup group. You may opt to bring a dessert or salad. Plant-based burger consumers, let me know so I have accurate count.
Lunch between 1-2pm. Plates, cups, and cutlery will be provided. There are tables with umbrellas and benches, but having your own camping chair can be more comfortable to relax in.

Carpooling is suggested, the ferry line can be horrendously LONG! and Mukilteo's parking is only for 4 hours.

Mukilteo/Clinton ferry runs every 1/2 hour.

ALWAYS CHECK THE "ALTERNATE SCHEDULE" for that day.

Ferry terminal to the beach is only 15 minutes. Directions to the beach will be sent the week prior.

ARRIVAL TIME: 10:00
TO HELP:
-set up picnic canopy
-set up umbrellas
-label garbage bags with TRASH/RECYCLABES
-Any other help needed

Pick up a VEHICLE GUEST PASS (Northwest Hikers 55+) on WELCOME table and place it in/on your vehicle.

NOTE: Last year, there was a couple of hikers who volunteered to do the program this year, I would LOVE to know if you are still planning on it.😉
