Hiker Picnic

With no Big Dig this year it might be nice to still have a chance for our great group of hikers to mingle and enjoy each other’s company in some capacity. This “Hiker Picnic” is intended to be a low key opportunity to do just that. There will be no digging of geoducks, no geoduck songs and no group provided hamburgers, just a chance to gather and catch up with each other and to meet some other members who we may not have crossed paths with yet. O.O. Denny Park in north Kirkland is a pretty park right on the shore of Lake Washington and has plenty of room for our group. There are a couple of picnic shelters although I don’t know if we’ll be able to snag one or not. They are reservable (for a fee) so no telling until we arrive if they’re booked for the day and if not it’s first come, first served. We’ll try to grab one if possible but come prepared to set up shop on the lawn so bring a chair and, if you have one, a portable table. This will be a “bring your own lunch and beverage” affair and, if you like, something to share. Because this is a city park no alcohol is allowed so leave the beer at home. Looking forward to seeing anyone who can make it.

Location: O.O. Denny Park, 12302 Holmes Point Dr. NE, Kirkland
Time: 11:00 AM until we decide to leave.
Restrooms: In the main parking lot as well as a porta-potty.
Parking: There are 2 parking lots as well as a few spaces along Holmes Point Dr. The lot to the south of the park is separated from the main park area by Denny Creek and the main restroom is in this lot. There are 2 bridges across the creek but the easterly one, the most direct connection, is currently closed but there is another bridge closer to the lake. You can also walk up to the main road and cross over the creek there. There is another lot on the east side of Holmes Point Dr. adjacent to the park.
