Celebrate the 75th anniversary of Forest Park's dedication with Northwest Trail Runners and Forest Park Conservancy! Together we're sponsoring a run at the north end of Forest Park, then continuing the celebration at Lower Macleay Park with a hosted lunch, info fair, and after-party.

The Run
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest with a 3.4 or 6.4 mile run starting at NW Newberry Road where the famous Wildwood trail begins. This part of the forest is more rugged and natural; maybe we'll encounter a tiny northern pygmy owl or hairy woodpecker! Watch your step for roots and banana slugs.

  • Starting from the Newberry / Wildwood Trailhead, we'll run 1.7 miles on Wildwood to Firelane 15.
  • We'll take a moment to soak up the forest then return back the way we came.

6.4-mile directions:

  • Starting from the Newberry / Wildwood Trailhead, we'll run 2.5 miles on Wildwood to BPA road.
  • Turn left on BPA Road for .7 miles to Firelane 13.
  • Turn left on Firelane 13 and quickly arrive at the picnic bench with a view.
  • After we spot the cow we'll return back the way we came (or you can take a detour down Firelane 12 and up Firelane 15 for extra vert!).

The Celebration
After the run, we'll head to Lower Macleay Park to join the 75th anniversary festivities, including a hosted lunch, with Forest Park Conservancy and other community organizations.

What to bring
Don't forget your running shoes, appropriate attire for the weather, water, a snack, and anything else you need to properly support yourself. A change of clothes for after always feels good!

See you on the trail!
