Have you heard of the Forest Park Nasties? A few of us are doing the Forest Park Nasty Challenge and want to invite the rest of our NWTR family out to participate, and donate if you wish (https://the-nasty-challenge-2025.causevox.com/t/NWTR). Read on below for more details.

What are they?
Whereas Wildwood Trail is relatively flat and easy to follow, the "Nasties" are not. They were designed by a mysterious Portland trail runner for hilly off-season training while the volcanoes and high trails of the northwest are under snow and ice. It's believed he also has an intention to increase the suffering in the world. (https://sites.google.com/site/runs4cache/areas/forest-park)

The 2025 Nasty Challenge
Join Forest Park Conservancy, Portland Arc'teryx, Fleet Feet, KEEN, Portland Running Co., and Territory Run Co. in running or hiking this year's five Nasty routes. Four routes will be located in Forest Park and one route will be located in Marquam Nature Park. The Nasty routes are challenging courses utilizing the hills, technical trails, and fire lanes that are not commonly used. It’s a great way to learn some new trails, as well as a fun way to get to know Marquam Nature Park.

This is the second run in the challenge, the FLAMING NASTY. Technically, the big group run is on the 6th, but we are running it on the 7th. So do either one, but we'd rather you join us!

The Nasty route will NOT be marked. These routes are difficult and challenging, so please save the details and information before you come out to join us. We will make every attempt to regroup during the run, but unlike most of our runs, people will be separated by longer distances. Come prepared, bring food, water, and emergency kit!

Here is the route for the Flaming Nasty. We will meet at the Firelane 1 parking lot and take off at 9am.

Remember this is the second run in a series of group runs that go through March of 2026. If you prefer to run with a larger group, you can run on Saturday. Please register, and we encourage you to donate to FPC if you feel compelled! If you do, make sure to join our team at this link https://the-nasty-challenge-2025.causevox.com/t/NWTR .
