Sunday Multi-Language Exchange and Conversation Meetup

Welcome to our regular, twice-a-month multi-language exchange meetup at Cafe Bar Marzano, which usually takes place on the second and last Sunday of the month. The event is intended as friendly space where learners of foreign languages can come together, meet new people and practice their language skills in a relaxed and self-guided way. There is no formal instruction or activities—just a social environment focused on conversation and mutual learning. If you'd like to bring along your own learning materials, such as games, activity books, or worksheets, to share and study with others, you're very welcome to do so.

As usual, there will be separate tables for each of our main foreign languages: French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and German. We also have an English table. If you’re an English learner, this is a good place to practice. Native English speakers are encouraged to spend a little time here to help others or to take a break from speaking foreign languages if they need one. Feel free to move around and switch tables during the event if you can. There are no set rules about how much time you should spend on a particular language—this is entirely up to you. However, please be considerate and give learners of your native language a chance to practice it with you.

It would be really helpful if you could RSVP if you plan to attend, and cancel your spot if you can't make it. Checking the profiles of other attendees beforehand is a good way to see how many speakers of your target language will be present. This is especially helpful if you’re looking to practice Italian or Portuguese, as attendance for those languages has been a bit intermittent recently.

We welcome speakers and learners of any language. If you're interested in practicing a language not listed above and don’t have a language partner, feel free to message me. If I receive at least two requests for the same language, I'll do my best to connect you and invite you to join us. If you already have a language partner, you're welcome to come along together—you might soon meet more people who speak or are learning your language.

The attendance fee is £1 per person, which helps cover running costs and Meetup fees. Your contribution is greatly appreciated and helps keep the group running. If you're unable to pay, you’re still welcome to join, and we hope that others will be able to contribute on your behalf. There will be a pot on a table where you can leave your contribution.
