Wednesday 28 October: FLORENCE CARTER MEMORIAL PARK, 11.6 miles. Leader: Ian H
Details
Norwich Group Wednesday walk.
Pls note OUR GROUP DOES NOT REQUIRE bookings! Just turn up on the day!
Come and join Ian H on this 11.6 mile walk, leaving promptly at 10:00 from the small car park outside of the Florence Carter Memorial Park on School Road, Drayton. The walk is a mixture of nice woodland and open country and a section of Marriott Way and a few sections of quiet lanes. The walk is on good footpaths and tracks all of which were clear and passable at time of recce. There were no real hazards apart from a section of a few sleeper steps which might be a bit slippery if wet, there are no stiles just a few kissing gates, only other hazard are tree routes in the woods.
There are no toilet facilities at the start or anywhere on route and the walk is all out in open and so lunch break will be outside, although if the weather is really bad could make a detour to Swannington church but this will add possibly another mile to the distance. Dogs allowed on this walk on a short lead only, but there are kissing gates that your dog will need to manage. Pls see our dog policy on our website, documents tab. Thank you.
We look forward to seeing you on the walk!
Please car share as much as possible for all of our walks. Many thanks
Full directions & google map with exact location is enclosed.
A packed lunch and a drink will be required along with clothing and footwear suitable for walking in the countryside including for wet weather. Walking with a warm and friendly group of like-minded people who love to walk and chat.
NORWICH RAMBLERS is one of the many Ramblers groups in the country, and one of 10 groups in the Norfolk area. Only Norwich, Hike Norfolk & Legstretchers publish their walks on Meetup. The Norfolk Ramblers group walks are published in our printed newsletter which is sent to our members, and is also published in the national Ramblers website, where you can find the walks for the other groups.
This is the link: https://www.ramblers.org.uk/norfolk
Our group does not tend to use Meetup, so although there maybe very few people signing up for a walk on Meetup, our walks are very well attended.
Besides the meetup group, you will also need to join Ramblers if you would like to walk with any of the groups. Of course we welcome new members, so you could try any group up to 3 times before joining Ramblers. We would encourage you to join one of the local Ramblers group rather than the Area Ramblers, although with the membership you can walk with any group in the country, and you can change the group anytime. Further information about joining can be found here:
